Specimen Requirements

Serum or plasma must be separated from red cells within 2 hours.

 

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Plasma

Container/Tube: Green-top (heparin) tube

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of heparinized plasma

Transport Temperature: Refrigerate (stable 48 hours). If stored ambient, stable 8 hours,

Collection Instructions: Draw specimen within 30 minutes prior to next dose.

Note: 1. Indicate plasma.

2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

 

Serum

Container/Tube: Gold-top serum gel tube

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of serum

Transport Temperature: Refrigerate (stable 48 hours). If stored ambient, stable 8 hours,

Collection Instructions: Draw specimen within 30 minutes prior to next dose.

Note: 1. Indicate serum.
