Cyclosporiasis Outbreak - Laboratory Testing

MDHHS is investigating an outbreak of cyclosporiasis in Michigan. The source of the outbreak has not been identified, and MDHHS continues to work with local health departments and partners to investigate cases and provide updates as more information becomes available.  See Infectious Disease Outbreaks for more informaiton.

Electronic ordering available for 2000+ Mayo Clinic Laboratory tests.  Search EHR via Mayo Clinic Laboratory test name.  If orderable not available, order Mayo Miscellaneous test.  Mayo test code is a required field and can be found on the Mayo test catalog next to the mayo test name.

For non-Mayo referral testing, order miscellaneous test with comment of referral lab test name, code, and referral lab.  Example comment- Cardio IQ Lp-PLA2 Activity, 94218, Quest

Prior Authorization Notice

On March 17^th 2026 Munson Healthcare Laboratories will be adding an ask on order entry question to tests that require prior authorization.  This change is to help support compliance with insurance requirements and improve patient satisfaction related to billing.
