Clinical Significance
Quantitation of urinary uric acid excretion is an aid in selecting the treatment for asymptomatic hyperuricemia and in the investigation of uric acid urolithesis. Lower urine uric acid values are seen in severe hepatocellular disease, defective renal tubular absorption (congenital or acquired).
