Specimen Requirements

Acceptable Specimens:

Ascites, abdominal, peritoneal, pleural, pericardial, paracentesis fluid, thoracentesis fluid, pericardiocentesis fluid

Container/Tube: Sterile vial

Specimen Volume: 3 mL of body fluid

Transport Temperature: Refrigerate

Collection Instructions: Fluid should be removed from the cells within 4 hours of collection.
