Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of collection.

 

1 mL from a random urine collection. No preservative. Send specimen refrigerated in a plastic urine container.

Reference Values

Values of 1.001-1.035 may be obtained on normal random urine specimens with a majority falling in the range of 1.015-1.025. The value obtained depends upon the state of hydration of the patient.
