Reporting
Reference Range:
| Negative |
< 10 IntlUnit/mL |
A negative result for IgG antibodies to the Rubella virus indicates NONIMMUNITY against the Rubella virus. |
| Equivocal |
> 10 - < 15 IntlUnit/mL |
An equivocal result is indeterminate for establishing immunity to Rubella. A follow up sample may be helpful to further evaluate immune status, if clinically indicated. |
| Positive |
> 15 IntlUnit/mL |
A positive results for IgG antibodies to the Rubella virus indicates immunity against the Rubella virus. |

None
Clinical Significance
The Rubella IgG Antibody assay is a quantitative method for the measurement of rubella IgG antibodies in serum. The presence of at least 10 International Units (IU) of antibody per mL of serum is indicative of past exposure to rubella virus. Antibody levels below 10 IU/mL may be insufficient to provide protection from clinical illness upon exposure to rubella virus.
