Test Code PTH Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) Intact, Serum

Important Note

For day of surgery testing, patients should be ordered as Intraoperative PTH and drawn in a lavender tube.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 48 hours of draw. 

 

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Plasma

Container/Tube: Green-top  (heparin) plasma gel tube

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of plasma

Transport Temperature: Forward promptly.

Note:  1. When testing is ordered as "PTH, Intact, with Minerals", the specimen will also be analyzed for Calcium, Phosphorous and Creatinine. Centrifuge sample for this testing within 1 hour of draw..

2. Label aliquoted specimen appropriately (plasma).

 

Serum

Container/Tube: Gold-top serum gel tube

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of serum

Transport Temperature: Refrigerate

Collection Instructions:  Forward promptly.
