Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Plasma
Container/Tube: Green-top (heparin) gel tube
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of heparinized plasma
Transport Temperature: Refrigerate
Collection Instructions: Centrifuge within 2 hours of draw. Forward promptly.

2. Indicate plasma.
3. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Container/Tube: Gold-top serum gel tube
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of serum
Transport Temperature: Refrigerate
Collection Instructions: Centrifuge within 2 hours of draw. Forward promptly.

1.8-2.5 mg/dL
Critical value (automatic call-back):
Pediatric patients up to 21 years old: ≤ 1.0 mg/dL, ≥ 3.5 mg/dL
Patients 21 years and older: ≤ 1.0 mg/dL, ≥ 4.5 mg/dL
