Specimen Requirements

Specimen must be delivered to laboratory immediately after collection.

Container/Tube: Red top tube only. Gel tubes are unacceptable and will be rejected.

Specimen Volume: 1 mL serum

Transport Temperature:  Send unspun red top at room temperature.  Send serum aliquot refrigerated.

Collection Instructions:  Draw immediately before next dose.  Deliver specimen immediately.

Note: For specimens collected in locations or facilities other than Munson Medical Center: Serum must be removed from the cells within 2 hours of collection, no exceptions.  Allow specimen to clot, then centrifuge. Immediately after centrifugation, remove serum and refrigerate the serum aliquot. Forward promptly.  Serum aliquot is stabile 7 days refrigerated.
