2.5 mL Plasma or Serum minimum .5 mL

 

Specimen Handling/Transport:

Separate plasma or serum from cells within 2 hours of collection.

Transport ambient room temperature.

5 days ambient room temperature

2 days refrigerated 2-8°C

0 years to 21 years  ≥ 300 U/L

Clinical Significance

There are quantitative differences in the amount of LD in various tissues. It is found in highest concentrations in the liver, followed by the heart and skeletal muscle. It is a good indicator of tissue damage.
