Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Swab

Source:  Anorectal, Genital – vaginal/cervical/penile, Nasal, Oral Lesion, Ocular and Urethral.

               Note:  This assay is not intended for use with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or for prenatal screening

Collection Instructions:

1.Collect swab from cutaneous or mucocutaneous lesion of symptomatic patients. Place swab in viral transport media (M5 or Puritan UnitTranz-RT)

2. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), specimen source, and date and time of collection.
3. Send specimen refrigerated.

Stability:  Refrigerated 5 days.
