≥1.10 Index

Negative

A negative result generally indicates that the patient has not been infected and is susceptible to HAV

≥ 0.90 Index and

< 1.10 Index

Equivocal

Repeat in duplicate.  Samples which are positive (<0.90) on both repeat tests should be considered positive. Samples which are negative (≥1.10) on both repeat tests should be considered negative. Samples which are Equivocal on 2 of the 3 replicates should be reported as Equivocal, (EQ) and second sample should be collected and tested no less than two to four weeks later.
