Do not use alcohol wipes for patient preparation, use providone-iodine prep pad.

Clinical Significance
Alcohol is not normally present in the body. It is rapidly absorbed from the stomach, the small intestine and the colon. Blood alcohol is usually measured for medicolegal reasons to determine if a person is intoxicated.
