Specimen must arrive within 1 hours of collection. Spinal fluid centrifuged and removed from cells must arrive within 8 hours of collection.

Container/Tube: Sterile vial or lumbar puncture collection vial (preferably the first vial collected during lumbar puncture procedure).

Specimen Volume: 1 mL of spinal fluid

Transport Temperature: Ambient

Collection Instructions: Centrifuge tube within 1 hour of collection.

Critical values (automatic call-back): <40 mg/dL or >500 mg/dL
