Specimen Requirements
Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Blood
Container/Tube: Lavender-top (EDTA) tube-Capillary
specimen is not acceptable.
Specimen Volume: 1 mL of EDTA whole blood
Transport Temperature: Refrigerate
Collection Instructions: Forward promptly.
Note: If specimen will not be analyzed within 24 hours, centrifuge, remove and send plasma frozen in plastic vial.
Plasma
Container/Tube: Lavender-top (EDTA) tube-Capillary specimen is not acceptable.
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of EDTA plasma
Transport Temperature: Refrigerate
Collection Instructions: If specimen will not be
analyzed within 24 hours, send plasma frozen in plastic vial.
Forward promptly.
Note: 1. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
