Collection Instructions:
1. Immediately upon collection pretransfusion blood specimens are labeled in the presence of the patient with:
- Patient's first and last name
- Unique identificiation number (medical record#)
- Date of collection and time
- Initials of individual collecting the specimen if not Cerner specimen collect label
2. Cerner specimen collect label generated by scanning the patient identification wristband or hand labeled with black ink is acceptable for labeling pretransfusion specimens.
3. Pretransfusion blood specimen collectors are recorded in the EHR.
